V-014: JULIETTE BERGMANN Juliette Bergmann surprised many with her superior yet refined physique at the 2001 Ms. Olympia in Las Vegas last year. For those people familiar with Juliette's bodybuilding career, the Olympia win should not come as a shock. During the mid 1980's Juliette became a dominant female bodybuilder, winning the World Professional Championships and placing 2nd at the Ms. International in 1986. The maturity and precision in Bergmann's physique 15 years ago still echoes today. To be honest, my interest in Bergmann was rekindled with her Ms. Olympia win last year. I knew my readers really wanted to see more of Juliette, it was a simple matter of finding an older physique video. After a little burrowing around in various online catalogues, a 1987 workout video from GMV, of Juliette working out with her sister Liona proved to be an interesting choice. The basic premise of the video was for the two hardbod Dutch gals to complete a gym work out for all of their body parts, step-by-step, and exercise-by-exercise. The video opens with Juliette posing for the camera in a styling, profiling black swimsuit standard front and back poses. Although not in top competitive shape, her body is still defined and strong. Her entire physique is extremely well developed and symmetrical for the era. Another notable mention, which was not widely seen at the opening of the video, are her calves and thighs! My goodness, her calves looked like ridiculously hard cut diamonds in the gym. I giggled a little once the narrative for the video began, why you asked? Wayne and Tina Gallasch are the people in question for the narrative commentary. It was interesting hearing their familiar voices on tape. Trust me, their voices sound much better on tape than mine! As the two Dutch powerhouses perform their workout, Tina tells the audience the proper manner in which the exercise should be executed. In fact, the information communicated to the audience is very accurate and precise for each exercise regiment. The iron pumping and posing in the gym runs for the bulk of the video, with intermittent spots to the two sisters walking around in public. Near the end of the video, the two sisters can be seen playing to the crowd as they pose at FIBO in Germany. FIBO is the world's largest bodybuilding Expo. The accomplishments by Juliette Bergmann over the years has been truly impressive. I really enjoyed going back 15 years in time to see the caliber of Bergmann in the 1980's. The maturity, development, and symmetry of Juliette in 1986-87 was and still is undeniable. She attained development that was strong in every part of her body.
