GMV has built a truly impressive video archive over its 35 year history. Wayne Gallasch has traveled the world to cover bodybuilding and physique competitions. His aggressive schedule has allowed him to cover mainstream competitions to small national venues. I met up with Wayne and Clive at the 2001 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Wayne and Clive had to work at a feverish pace to prepare for all the filming that weekend. I was fortunate enough to meet Wayne and Clive for breakfast on Friday, the day of the Expo.

For those who have not traveled to the Arnold's, it is definitely worth the trip. The Expo is by far and away the best place to be... why you ask? For only US$10 you get to see all the booth babes at the expo, plus you can watch the women's pre-judging and much more. Why pay upwards of $60 to see the actual competition... ?

Today, I'm reviewing the 2001 Ms. International Prejudging video. Below you will find the official results from the competition. In my opinion, Dayana Cadeau was the most spectacular competitor on the floor. Her back was ripped and defined, not to mention her huge legs. Although she won the light weight category, I wish she could have won the overall title too. All in all, the light weight category was my favourite, Jennifer McVicar was simply beautiful.

For those that are interested in the atmosphere at the Arnold's feel free to visit my Arnolds 2001 Photo Gallery at MuscleCentral.com. The lighting on stage for the prejudging was extremely good, this definitely aided in producing good clean and clear results for GMV on video. You will be able to  all of the competing women in this video. You will see them doing their required elements in physique display, plus head-to-head comparisons. The most compelling parts of this video were the full spanning shots of all the women across the stage. As the camera spans, you can truly appreciate the challenge in judging competitors. As an audience, the prejudging at the Expo gives you the opportunity to determine who the top women will be in the final show down.

Pros about the Video

·         The photography and lighting are top-notch.
Up close and personal  (You get judging quality views)
  Top calibre competitors

Cons about the Video

·         Lack of background music, noisy audience instead.
Not a high energy style video by nature

Conclusion

I hope the prejudging scheme continues to stay at the Arnold's going forward. If not, then Wayne might not be able to bring us such awesome footage. In fact, he could only do the prejudging at the Arnolds. Wayne was not allowed to produce the final competition that evening, getting the rights from the promoters is often a difficult task. For those that could not go see the Ms. Internationals in Columbus, perhaps this video can give you some insight into how it feels and looks.
