2001 San Francisco Report

I wasn't able to attend this event but my good friend Ray Cassar of Muscletime has a full report and pictures. See his site at www.muscletime.com.

Craig Titus with his second placing behind Chris Cormier has now qualified for his first Olympia this October in Las Vegas.  I was hoping that J.D. Dawodu and Claude Groulx would qualify this time. J.D. has a sensational physique of the old fashioned freaky variety and deserves to be seen by the Olympia crowd. His arms and delts are just unbelievable! With a slight improvement in symmetry he will be knocking at the door for a 1st placing in a pro show very soon.  (For results click here).

I have been watching J.D.s career since I produced the video of the EFBB British Championships which he won back in 1992 when Kimberly-Anne Jones also won her class and overall title. They both got their pro cards that night at Wembley.

Melvin Anthony (see A-4294)  and Craig Titus (see A-4273)  who are now neck and neck in recent pro-shows both have videos which are stocked by GMV. It would be a good time to check them out.

Melvin has been coached by the great John Brown in posing presentation which reminds me that back in 1981 when I asked John to make a posing film for me to showcase his art he declined. He said at the time he didn't want every one else copying his style. Now you can see that fabulous style displayed by Melvin in his video and in the 2001 Ironman video when edited.

We also have Melvin posing in the 1999 FIBO video (see V-098).

I have noted a lot of interest in Jorge Betancourt here in USA even though it is some years since his Teen Wonderboy video first came out. We still stock this video (see A-4076) and it has been a long time popular video.

Now it is on to tHe Arnold Fitness Weekend for me next Thursday, so look for my report and photos on this on my return.

Pro Men: Shawn Rhoden becomes the 14th Mr Olympia winner as he stunningly took home the top prize in 2018. Phil Heath has held the title for the last 7 years, but on the big night this year, it was not to be his record-equaling victory # 8.
