Dave Palumbo's Reconstruction of a Bodybuilder is now available on DVD and Download. This classic video is hilarious and informative. It will change the concept of training films forever!

A clever premise, involving Dave and his training partner Mat Duvall as volunteers in an experiment to create superhuman cyborgs, who have to protect a future legislator from an anti-bodybuilding faction.

Interwoven in the plot is serious hardcore instruction. At Bev Francis' gym in Syosset, Dave and Mat show the basic exercises for working pecs, delts, arms and legs. They are joined by Jim "Iron Bull" Pellechia for a super back workout. Greg Kovacs appears at the end. There are also segments on diet and nutrition.
Dave does not forget the importance of posing. A terrific segment features posing expert John Maglio who puts Dave through the symmetry round, compulsory poses and 60-second routine. To be a successful competitor, this is an essential part of the equation.

Casey Viator and his GMV "connection" with the Olympic Games.
With the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro right now, it seemed a good time to mention this story again.

In 1978 I was invited to the Nautilus Facility in Florida by Art Jones, in conjunction with Ell Darden who also worked closely with Art and Casey. The invite was to shoot Casey on film and in photos at the Nautilus TV Studio. Also to do extra photography on the nearby Daytona Beach.

In large part this invite came as an extension of my friendship with Ell Darden. We had attended the 1972 Olympic Games together 6 years earlier. See my report on what we got up to here!
One of my photos of Ell and 2 female athletes from the Games Village appeared on the back cover of Iron Man magazine.
Casey Viator was the youngest ever Mr. America winner and later had a successful professional career, placing 3rd at the 1982 Mr. Olympia in London.

See Daryl posing poolside for our two cameras at the 2003 and 2004 Olympia Weekends in Las Vegas. After pumping up with the help of 2004 NPC Middleweight Champion Eryk Bui, they do a duo posedown followed by more close-up footage of huge biceps filling the screen.

Fannie oils, pumps and poses poolside at the Mandalay Bay pool on the day after the Ms. Olympia. She is assisted by her friend and rival, Ms. International, Yaxeni Oriquen.  The two stars then pose down - toe to toe, head to head.  It gets very competitive at times!!
Fannie passed away in 2005. We miss her and we will never forget her.

1997 Iron Man Pro Invitational on Digital Download. 
Twenty three athletes from all over the world came to Los Angels for the first IFBB pro show of the year. The biggest suspense of the night was the final moment between Lee Priest, Flex Wheeler and Ronnie Coleman.

Would Wheeler win the third Ironman in a row or lose to the incredibly muscular  Aussie in Lee Priest? Or would Ronnie Coleman steal the show. The results below tell the story for this contest, and one year later Ronnie won his first Olympia title.

The 1996 Iron Man Pro Invitational was a rumble between USA, Canada and Australia with the four top competitors being Flex Wheeler, Paul Dillett, Shawn Ray and Lee Priest. Lee Priest went on to be a future winner of this event in 2006. However 1996 was the year of an unstoppable FLEX WHEELER who won 3 pro shows that year, plus 2 seconds.

1992 IFBB South Australian BB Championships - With Star Guest Poser Dorian Yates.
I recently found this classic contest gem video tucked away in my archives and containing some wonderful unseen footage of DORIAN YATES. He was fresh from his victory in the 1992 Mr. Olympia.

The local stars included the following: STEVE TAYLOR, ERVIN ZURMUHL, RANDALL SMYTHE, TONY ROCCA, MARK TREWARTHA, LEE-ANNE CAMPION and KAREN BROOKSBY.

STEVE TAYLOR was the Overall Men's winner and also took home 4 Best Body Part Awards. The Women's major winner was a very impressive LEE-ANNE CAMPION. The show closed with the brutally impressive posing routine from the current Mr. Olympia DORIAN YATES.

We tend to forget the fabulous career Lee Priest enjoyed - as a many times Olympian, Grand Prix winner, Mr. Universe winner and much more. Probably Australia's greatest physique.

2016 Arnold Strongman Classic.
The 2016 Arnold Strongman Classic was split over two days to enable the competitors to battle it out over five incredibly heavy and stressful events.

The legendary Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania won the Arnold Strongman Classic for the eighth time when he came from behind in the final event to beat Brian Shaw of USA by one point, and win the 2016 Arnold Strongman Classic in dramatic fashion. He is probably the greatest Strongman competitor of all time.

This DVD covers each of the 5 events which were as follows:
