"REG PARK: THE LEGEND" -  Train the Reg Park Way

This is a Limited Commemorative Edition DVD of the "Train the Reg Park Way" showing the training principles of the World’s Best Developed Man.

"REG PARK: THE LEGEND" series began to take shape shortly before Reg passed a from cancer in November 2007. Despite suffering from an advanced form of cancer, Reg sat down for a number of sessions with the production team to record - in his own words - his life story.

In this DVD, subtitled "Train the Reg Park Way", Reg's son, Jon Jon, reveals some of his training secrets and along with Steve Uria, they demonstrate how Reg trained each of the major muscle groups.

In the first DVD in this series "The Authorised Biography" Reg talked about growing up in pre-war England. His story travels from the cold of northern England to the United States where, at the age of 21, he teamed up with the Weider organization and learnt all he could from the bodybuilding experts in the United States.

Armed with this knowledge and his goal clearly in mind, he set about creating the greatest physique the world has ever seen.
On an exhibition tour to South Africa - just before winning his first of three Mr. Universe titles in 1951 - he met Mareon, his wife-to-be. In 1958 he won his second Mr. Universe title just before moving his young family to South Africa, to escape the harsh British climate where their health was suffering.

In South Africa Reg set up his life away from the mainstream bodybuilding world. Yet despite being thousands of miles from the epicentre of bodybuilding, his influence as a role model, as an inspiration and as a pioneer in training techniques, was still playing a leading role.

Reg changed the way bodybuilders posed - incorporating music and lighting into his routines for the first time at the suggestion of his wife - who had been a professional ballet dancer. He also popularised the role of the muscle man on the silver screen when he starred as Hercules in five Italian "Sword & Sandal" films during the 1960's.

Reg Park inspired generations of future bodybuilding champions - such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, Bill Grant, Lou Ferrigno, Dennis Tinerino, Johnny Isaacs and Tom Platz.

Information on some of the TRAINING CONTENT:

CALVES
Reg was known for his exceptional calf muscles.  How did he do it? Jon Jon and Steve show how careful attention to technique and massive amounts of repetitions can give you colossal calves too...

DELTOIDS
Reg used to do barbell presses behind the neck to develop his strapping shoulders. Most people who do this exercise do not do it effectively, and therefore do not gain maximum advantage from their training... Jon Jon & Steve show you how to do it the Reg Park way.

CHEST
Reg was not a fan of the flat bench press. He built his chest with incline presses, using his famous 5 x 5 technique to get maximum impact in the shortest time.

BACK & ABDOMINALS
Simply working the back and abs externally wasn’t enough for Reg Park. He believed that to make a real difference you need to work internally as well, making sure you stretch the cartilage between the rib cage.

ABDOMINALS
Reg was a big advocate of vacuums. He believed in doing them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before he had any fluids or food. Frank Zane was also a huge fan and advocate for the Vacuum Pose.

TRICEPS
Jon Jon and Steve show you how best to do Regs’ favourite exercise for triceps; the decline tricep extension with the head placed below the shoulders...

QUADRICEPS
Reg called squats the King, Queen and Jack of all exercise... when done properly. They are important because they also have additional cardiovascular benefit.

BACK
Bend-over-rows with weights of up to 300 pounds ensured that Reg became known for the density and thickness of his back.

BICEPS
For thickness and mass Reg did barbell curls. Jon Jon and Steve demonstrate his secret; explain how the capital W can work for you.

This training video is a fitting tribute to the memory of Reg Park from his son Jon Jon.
