1996 NABBA Australian Champs: The Women - Prejudging & Show

The 1996 NABBA Australia was held in the glamorous surroundings of the Burswood Convention Centre in Perth, WA.

With 55 competitors from all around Australia this show was cram packed with talent. Being "home town" Western Australia had a strong contingent of competitors, but Victoria went home with most of the first place trophies.

As usual the Women's Figure was of the highest standard. With twelve of Australia's best figure bodybuilders vying for 1st place, it would have been a real headache for the judges. Last year's winner, Pina Theodoridis made it 2 in a row. The over 35 Figure Class had the largest line-up in the history of this division. WA's Denise Kelly dominated her competition to become Over 35 Figure Ms. Australia.

Last year's physique winner, Heather Adams was up against NABBA newcomer Gillian Marusco for a place on the World team, to Stuttgart, Germany. However, Gillian triumphed on this occasion.

As a result of the posedown the team selected for the World Championships was Colin Murphie, Brad McLennan, Danny Pavlovich, Les Rudolf, Pina Theodoridis, Gillian Marusco and Graeme Lancefield.
