2010 New York Pro Complete Results!!
 2010 New York Pro Comments and Results.
This prestigious NY Pro contest replaced the former NY Night of Champions. That event had a great history stretching back to 1978 when Robby Robinson was the first winner. Winners since then have included including Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Victor Martinez, Branch Warren, Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, Kai Greene and more. The present NY Pro contest has grown in recent years to include women’s pro bodybuilding, the 202 men’s division, and this year for the first time, the Pro Bikini class leading to Olympia qualification.
The Open Men
It was obviously going to be a four-way battle between Hide Yamagishi, Dennis Wolf, Toney Freeman and the incredible European newcomer Roelly Winklaar from Holland. Roelly has an illusion of great size, yet at 5' 71/2" and around 240lbs, his amazing condition makes him look even bigger. With his small waist, massive arms, great abs, shredded thighs and round, full muscle bellies, he cannot fail to impress. Just over two months ago he made his pro debut at the Arnold Classic placing 7th. Then a week later in Australia he placed 3rd, gaining his 2010 Olympia invite. Later this week we will be releasing our 2010 Australian Pro GP DVD with more coverage on Roelly.

The NY Women’s Pro bodybuilding had 13 great competitors, with two-time defending champion Cathy LeFrancois edging out former USA winner Sheila Bleck. Both were in superb shape, with Cathy displaying her famous striated glutes.
Kevin English took out the Men's 202 Class with a convincing performance. He will again be the one to beat in the 202 Class at the 2010 Olympia. Click here to see Kevin in the 202 Class at the 2009 Olympia.

Dennis Tinerino, RIP and another Arnold Classic Preview Clip!!
 Dennis Tinerino, RIP.
It is with great sadness that I report the death of my friend DENNIS TINERINO on Friday 7th May from stomach cancer. He was 64. I first met Dennis after I judged him in the 1972 NABBA Universe when he won the tall class, narrowly missing the Overall Pro title for that year.
He had the rare distinction of having won an Overall Amateur Mr. Universe, won his class twice in the Pro NABBA Mr. Universe, won the IFBB Pro Universe and also competed in the Mr. Olympia 6 times. Plus much more. He was one of the greats of bodybuilding.
 The most footage we have on Dennis is from his Australian seminar with Bill Pearl, shot a few days after Dennis won the 1981 IFBB Professional Mr. Universe title in Sydney.
He maintained his magnificent condition for the seminar as you will see during his flawless posing routine. Bill Pearl also presents his unique posing display at this joint seminar.
 The last time we shot footage of Dennis was in our Kenny Kassel's interview with Dennis Tinerino, Bill Grant, Jerry Brainum, Pat Lanzillo and Mike Torchia at 2006 Iron Man FitExpo.

Black and white photographic collection of Lisa Lyon. An absolute classic by one of the world's great photographers.
Rare First Edition, very good condition.
Lyon entered and won the first IFBB Women’s World Pro Bodybuilding Championship in Los Angeles on June 16, 1979.
This was the only bodybuilding competition of her career.
Nevertheless, she became a media sensation, appearing in many magazines and on television talk shows.
She also wrote a book on weight training for women titled Lisa Lyon’s Body Magic which was published in 1981.
Lisa Lyon became the first female bodybuilder to appear in Playboy in October, 1980.
She was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2000.

1992 SABBA South Australian BB State Championships & our GMV Site's "Easy Finder" feature!!
 1992 SABBA South Australian Bodybuilding Championships - Prejudging.
The Prejudging DVD features the posing routines, all the key comparisons, and includes all the stars from the South Australian bodybuilding scene.
Derek Immervoll was subsequently announced as the OVERALL WINNER of the Mr. South Australia contest at the evening show.

 1992 SABBA South Australian Bodybuilding Championships - The Show.
This contest included Men and Women and the Women's Figure and Women's Physique lineups were awe inspiring! Not to be outdone, some of the biggest men in South Australia strode onto the stage in the Men's Open classes.
It was all out war between the two class winners - Mark Trewartha (Tall Class) and Derek Immervoll (Short Class).
After the dust had cleared Derek eventually came out on top, outmuscling Trewartha in an exciting and tense posedown. Mark had the size and posing expertise, while Derek had the condition and overall package that the judges were looking for.  2007 IFBB Sacramento Grand Prix.
Held in the wonderful Art Deco Sacramento Crest Theatre, it was soon evident at the Prejudging that Toney Freeman and Silvio Samuel would be the men to beat. From there on down, the field was very even for the next 5 or 6 placings.
It was an historic moment when Hide Yamagishi was announced in 3rd place, thus qualifying him for the 2007 Olympia. He became the FIRST EVER Japanese competitor to qualify for the Mr. Olympia event. Unlucky to miss out on Olympia qualification was 4th placed Ahmad Haidar with his outstanding physique and incredible abs. The DVD includes the complete prejudging, finals, posedown and awards. Eleven pros took to the stage at the Dallas Brooks Centre in Melbourne.
Promoter Tony Doherty had joint MC Chris Cormier tell of his near death experience and fortunate recovery in an emotional stage interview. Cormier, a many times past winner of this event added a "hard edge" to this fantastic show. Milos Sarcev, present with his team of athletes, also added some tribute comments on former Masters Olympia winner, Aussie Sonny Schmidt.

This was the 3rd and final DVD on the famous Mentzer brothers and consists of all of our remaining segments of Mike and Ray Mentzer in one super DVD feature. It is a tribute to these 2 wonderful bodybuilders who sadly passed away in June 2001. It is hard to believe that they died almost 9 years ago.
The first half of the DVD is devoted to Mike with Part 2 showcasing Ray.

2007 was the year HIDETADA YAMAGISHI created history by becoming the FIRST EVER Japanese bodybuilder to qualify for the Mr. Olympia. Hide burst onto the scene after moving to the USA and training with the legendary Milos Sarcev at his Koloseum Gym in Fullerton. The cameras of GMV Productions caught Hide Yamagishi at the 4 major IFBB Pro shows that year, including the Sacramento Grand Prix in which he placed 3rd to qualify for the Mr. Olympia.
This massive workout produced by GMV is a fly-on-the-wall look at Hide's training in the lead up to his Pro show triumphs in early 2007. We recently shot Hide as he placed second in the 2010 Phoenix Pro. Watch for this on DVD soon!

The Arnold Sports Festival - A Brief History.
What started as a one-day bodybuilding competition three decades ago has grown into four days of spectacular sports competitions and demonstrations. With forty-four sports and events makes it one of the world's largest sports and fitness weekends.
It all began when Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the age of 15, discovered weightlifting in his native Graz, Austria. In a few years Jim Lorimer recognized the talent of the young Schwarzenegger, who was virtually unknown in the United States. Lorimer invited the Austrian to Columbus, Ohio in 1970 to compete in the Mr. World Contest. Arnold won and a friendship began......

The 2004 NABBA Universe saw a record number of competitors fighting for the titles of Overall Amateur Mr. Universe and Pro-Am Mr. Universe. With the quality being so high, we included every single exciting moment from the evening show.
History was made on this night with Slovenia's first ever Mr. Universe winner being crowned. It was in tall Class 1 where Gregor Koman stepped into the history books with his victory. To celebrate this we have made a star posing clip of Gregor.

Tina, Ollie and I are just back from shooting the fantastic 10th Australian Pro Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Shot with 2 cameras so that we could record the pump room, the posing in closeup, the Gaspari seminar, the amateurs, the Bench Press contest and everything that happened for the whole day, you have a 2 disc DVD treat in store for you when the event is edited.
Once again it was a victory for KAI GREENE making it 2 in a row "down under", followed by DEXTER JACKSON and ROELLY WINKLAAR who now qualifies for his first ever Mr. Olympia.

Arnold Sports Festival Weekend - Pix and more comments on the Results!!
 Arnold Classic photos added for men and women.
Today we added a few photos taken by my good friend Isaac Hinds who sat next to me in the Press Pit.
I will have more photos later from Aussie super lensman Gary Phillips.
We had one Aussie in the pro events with ROSA-MARIA ROMERO taking 10th place in the Figure International. Rosa is pictured left at the Figure International Prejudging.
This in effect means that Rosa is the 10th ranked figure competitor in the world at this moment.
Let's hope she can continue this form and get a top 10 finish in this year's Fitness Olympia - her first ever Olympia appearance.
I also hope GMV can do a training DVD with Rosa later this year.
A recent GMV female physique star to appear in the Arnold contests was ALINA POPA who made her pro debut in the Ms. International.
She looked outstanding and presented a wonderful posing routine and showed great stage presence.
However she could not make top 6 in this her pro her debut but did extremely well placing 8th out of 14. Not too bad first up, and she showed huge potential for the future.

 Our latest release features German fitness star REGIANE DA SILVA. Regiane looked sensational with a great fitness physique, not too lean and not too muscular.
Her routines are always awesome to almost being frenetic, as Regiane does not know how to give less than 110% at all times.
Last year she had her best ever placing with a 4th in this contest but this year she did not really grab the judges' attention in that she placed a rather disappointing 8th out of 15.

 In the men's section, the Arnold Classic, it was very pleasing to see RONNY ROCKEL make the top 6 for the first time at this contest, continuing his good form from the Olympia.
His 6th place finish left a lot of outstanding bodybuilders placing behind him.

We are presently shooting a new DVD with Egyptian-German TAREK ELSETOUHI. Tarek placed 11th in this his first Arnold Classic. 2 years ago he won the Overall Arnold Men's Amateur title.

Columbus Marathon and the 2006 Ironman NPC Figure Contest!!
 Arnold Amateur Women Marathon Shoot.
Wayne just called from Columbus to say he had a marathon shoot this evening. The competition was an amateur women's event, with Figure, Fitness and Bikini Classes. The standard was awesome - and there were more than 200 competitors
That made me think we should look back at another NPC competition. We've just restored the link to a clip of the 2006 Iron Man NPC Figure Contest, V-199DVD. It was a great competition, with 3 separate classes.

2009 Arnold Strongman Classic.
A great title for USA! The 2009 Arnold Strongman Classic saw only the third new champion crowned since its inception in 2002. This year the honors went to Connecticut police officer and World's Strongest Man runner-up, Derek Poundstone, who improved on his second placing in the 2008 Arnold Strongman event.
It was a see-saw contest with the six time Russian National Weightlifting champion, Mikhail Koklyaev, and Poundstone separated by a solitary point at the end of the final event.

This is our feature we shot with Andrulla, the Ms. Olympia in-waiting. We must have known a thing or two about women with great potential!
Take a look back in history to see how this now famous British Champion and Ms. Olympia started out!! Even then she was a pint sized package of muscular beauty. This DVD was taped in 1986 when she was only 20 years old, having already won a Junior British Championship.
We shot this feature in London when Andrulla was in fantastic muscular shape, and displaying her outstanding arm and back development. When Andrulla pumps and flexes those mighty arms, the contest is usually all over for her opposition! This DVD brings out the intensity of her pumping, oiling up, flexing, posing and super interview.  1993 SABBA South Australian BB Championships: The Prejudging.
Hands up everyone who remembers Mike Buder. He was a super star in South Australia in the early 90's along with Rhett Panizza, Heather Lindsay and Heather Adams - not to mention Junior Hunk Matthew Papandrea.
Mike later went on to represent Australia at the 1993 NABBA Universe. See GMV-168DVD.

Phoenix Pro Results - Hot off the Press!!
 Melvin cleans up at the 2010 IFBB Phoenix Pro.
Wayne just called me to say that Melvin Anthony won the IFBB Phoenix Pro and also the best poser award. No surprises there. A very disappointed Hidetada Yamagishi was a close second. Toney Freeman was 3rd, Grigori Atoyan 4th and Troy Alves 5th.
This was Melvin's 3rd Pro victory.
Roc Shabazz won the 202 class from Ahmad Ahmad. Bola Ojex was 3rd and thus qualifying for his first 202 Showdown appearance at the Olympia this year.
The women's classes were hotly contested, with Yaxeni Oriquen winning the women's bodybuilding from Betty Pariso.
Julie Palmer won the Fitness Class from Tanji Johnson.
The Figure Class went to Mindi Smith from LA with Amy O'Neil in second place and Australia's own Rosa-Maria Romero taking 3rd place and gaining her first invitation to the Figure Olympia.
Our congratulations to Rosa. We know how hard she has worked and how determined she has been in her quest for Olympia qualification.

The Legends of Bodybuilding gather at the 2007 Arnold Weekend. The first ever Ironage dinner was held in Columbus, Ohio on March 1st, 2007. Held in conjunction with the Arnold Sports Festival, this groundbreaking event kicked off festivities for many ironage fans at the 2007 Arnold weekend. Pearls of Wisdom - Bill Pearl.
This DVD is genuinely one of the rarest in my collection.
Very little footage exists on the great BILL PEARL, author of "Keys to the Inner Universe" and other well known books.
He is also probably one of the world's greatest bodybuilding trainers.
Bill has been the force behind many of the world's top physiques for the past 40 years. Part of this DVD includes a Luncheon Reunion organised in 2003 for Bill by John Balik and Iron Man magazine.

60 Year History of the NABBA Universe 1950 - 2010: 2 DVD Set.
Reminiscences by Ivan Dunbar - “A Tremendous Time”.
NABBA is the first and original international bodybuilding association. Commencing in 1950, NABBA's first Mr Universe contest was won by Steve Reeves who defeated Reg Park. Some of the other great legends of the sport besides Reeves who won the Mr Universe title include Bill Pearl and Arnold Schwarzenegger (both four-times winners) and Reg Park.
This fantastic trip down memory lane is narrated by IVAN DUNBAR who is the only person to have attended every single Universe contest from 1948 to 2008. Ivan talks of the highlights over the years, with interesting and amusing stories about famous names such as John Grimek, Clarence Ross, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chet Yorton, Dave Draper, Charles Clairmonte (4 titles), Bill Pearl, Frank Zane, John Citrone, John Terilli, Lance Dreher, with Eddy Ellwood and Ed Kawak both 5-times winners. Plus many more names.
Not surprisingly this massive undertaking of compiling this 60 year history into 6 hours has taken us 18 months of concentrated effort!

1991 SABBA South Australian Championships Revisited!!
  This was Nick Jones' first contest, way back in 1991 - and he won the Teenage. I can remember everyone saying that this boy could go far, if he stuck with it. And go far he did, and he's still going. Other popular stars were Billy Bryson (he won the Overall title) and Anna Leigh and Pam Reid in the women's classes.

 1986 NABBA Universe: The Men's Prejudging.
At the 1986 NABBA Mr. Universe - Men's Prejudging the favourite, MIKE ANTORINO of USA, was up against a fast rising young superstar of bodybuilding in
CHARLES CLAIRMONTE of UK, and a sensation RONALD MATZ from Germany. This was in the Tall Class 1.
SAMMY IOANNIDIS of Australia dominated and won the short class 3 with EUGENE LAVISCOUNT from England too strong for Peter Andreas of Germany in
Class 2.
In the Junior Universe class it was a sensational ANDY HORNBY up against Roger Bartley with Andy getting straight firsts from every single judge. It looked
like Andy had a huge Pro career ahead of him. About a year later he tragically died.

Pax Beale the marvel is 80, Driven Divas new clip & the 2004 WFF Universe Special deal!!
 Pax Beale is "Unbelieva-Beale" at 80.
Who is Pax Beale you might ask? He is a world famous senior bodybuilder and the Bay Area's leading senior citizen health practitioner in CA. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday with a large party with friends, classmates and teammates dating back to Pax Beale's student days at Oakland High and UC Berkeley.
"I doubt that I would be alive today," he said, referring to a former heart condition, when he was 61 and had a five-way coronary bypass in 1991. "If it wasn't for weight training I wouldn't be here.
I was going downhill. I was less than 50-50." Instead, he has won two Mr. USA senior bodybuilding contests and was the oldest ever competitor in the 1995 NABBA Universe Masters Over 40 Class. That is when we met the famous Pax Beale in UK.

 Mr. & Ms. Australia History Updated.
Over the years I have been gradually putting together the various pieces of the past history of the Mr. Australia title. I also have the history of the Australia Women's titles as well.
Thanks to past Australia champions such as Billy Knight and Les Spendlove, I have had more of my material corrected and added to in the last few days. The story is still not quite complete from 1982 onwards, when 2 Australian Championships were held each year, run by rival federations. This Aussie History section however is all about giving credit to the athletes who have won an Australia title. Extra info always welcome!

Classic Collection # 4 updated and Re-released!!
 Classic Collection # 4.
This latest DVD in our Classic Collection series features the stars of the seventies in our priceless collection of the greatest names of the period. Kal Szkalak, Lee Haney as a Teenager, Sergio Oliva, Frank Zane versus Boyer Coe at the NABBA Universe, Chet Yorton, Bill Grant and many more. There is very little footage of Kal Szkalak available making this DVD a rare treat for all Szkalak fans.
Seeing Lee Haney as a teenager reminds you of the enormous potential he had back then which enabled him to later set the record (now shared by Ronnie Coleman), for the most Mr Olympia victories at 8.
Most of this rare film footage was shot by Wayne Gallasch in the early to mid 70s. In some instances it is the only known film of some of these stars.

CNP Professional's £2m move in 2010 & its English GP History plus 2 Specials!!
 CNP Professional, its £2m move in 2010 & the English GP History.
CNP Professional is UK's largest bodybuilding supplements company and is investing £2m to bring manufacturing in-house in a move to their own brand new premises next month. "This is very good news, not only for bodybuilders and all those into sports nutrition in UK/Europe, but to our customers world wide", said boss Kerry Kayes (pictured left).
Full production of CNP’s range of protein supplement powders, capsules, tablets shakes and other items taken by bodybuilders and sports enthusiasts is expected to begin at the new site in April.
Why you might ask is this important? CNP Professional's owner, Kerry Kayes, spends tens of thousands of pounds sponsoring contests for all federations, and running and promoting shows.
Kerry is a former British Bodybuilding Champion himself and is also the owner of the legendary Betta Bodies Gym in Denton (Manchester).
 Back in 1999 we can thank Kerry for bringing the famous English Grand Prix back to life after it lapsed around 1997. He ran 6 of these classic GPs with GMV honoured to be the official videographers for all events.

In keeping with our goal to be your MAJOR RESOURCE for bodybuilding history on DVD, we have now added to our site a COMPLETE ARNOLD CLASSIC INDEX LISTING of every known DVD that was shot at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival.
This index seemed timely as GMV will be at the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival in 2 month's time. This massive event takes place in Columbus, Ohio March 4th to 7th with the Expo March 5th to 7th. For more details check out the Arnoldsportsfestival.com site.

2009 WFF World Championships - The Women & Couples now released!!
2009 WFF World Championships - The Women & Couples.
This was our last major event for 2009. Held in Lebach, Germany, on 31st October, 2009, this international bodybuilding and fitness event attracted an outstanding quality field of competitors from around the world.
The WOMEN’S DVD covers all the action from the Women's Classes listed below and the Couples Class:
