A few new links!

I have a few new links for you to check out over the New Year.  We found this really super body fitness software site, which looks very promising, and there's a new clothing site called - imaginatively - Lords of Discipline.  They are both in the Miscellaneous Links section.  By the way, we are aware that the links are getting very cumbersome and badly organised.  It will be sorted in the New Year.

Wayne and I would like to wish you all a prosperous, healthy and - above all - a peaceful New Year.  See you next year!

2002 IFBB English Grand Prix, plus a NABBA History!

Here we are - as promised.  GMV-510 2002 IFBB English Grand Prix is ready.  You get to see Dexter Jackson's first ever Grand Prix win.  Well deserved it was, too.

Another 'first' for GMV is a new article on the history of the NABBA Universe.  There's also a complete list of all past winners (from the very first winner, John Grimek to the present day), fully corrected.  To the best of our knowledge this is the first time this list has been published anywhere on the web, and it is the culmination of many months of checking and cross checking between Wayne and Malcolm Whyatt.  There might be other lists, but none which are complete and totally correct in all details.  

In addition, I've also put up the latest in the series of the Oscar Heidenstam Hall of Fame Awards videos.  This is A-4341 video # 8, which honoured Arnold Schwarzenegger, Earl Maynard and Louis Martin amongst others.  Unfortunately Arnold could not be present to accept his award in person.

Hard News to while away the holidays!

Wayne has just posted his Hard News report on the 2002 IFBB English Grand Prix.  The video is ready now, and will be on the site first thing Monday morning!!  If the holidays are getting you down already, this will perk you up!!

Christmas Greetings, and a Video Review!

To all our friends and colleagues in the industry, Wayne and I, and the staff at GMV, wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2003.  Forget the diet for just one day, and have a truly memorable time with your families and friends over the holiday period.

We have all sorts of exciting plans for the New Year which include a revamped site with a couple of extra little touches, DVDs (yes, we are finally taking the plunge, but don't get too excited - it will take a little while to get organised), and of course an endless supply of the latest and greatest bodybuilding videos.

Video Reviews Revamp!!

Only 5 more sleeps before the fat man with a white beard comes to visit!!  

This is just a short note to let you know that we have revamped a couple of sections on the site.  First of all, the Video Reviews section has been tidied up, with each review on a separate page.  This will cut down the download time enormously.  I'll also put a link from each of the videos to the Review concerned you will be able to read more if you are interested.

The New Releases section has been enlarged with a link from the home page.  this way I can keep up videos longer, and if there is a period where we are releasing several videos a week, it will give you time to check it out.

The editing on the Universe Pump Room videos has been finished, and I'll be making the covers over the next couple of days.

Wayne's Hard News - 2002 Olympia Report!!

Wayne's long awaited report on the Olympia has now been posted into Hard News.  He gives what is really a unique view of the whole event.  It's a huge report, so it's been indexed so that you can read the bits you want to know about without having to search through the whole lot.

If you think that the home page looks a little bereft without those pix on the right hand side - we've changed the format of the New Releases slightly because we feel none of them were left up quite long enough, before they were replaced by even newer videos.  Particularly at this time of year, when we are releasing videos every few days.  So it seemed better to provide a whole page of New Releases, which can be accessed by a single click.  The images are small so it won't take long to load down.

Ripped - The Video: with Clarence Bass!!

GMV-511, The Clarence Bass video will be ready to ship in approximately 10 - 14 days.  It's been a bit of a saga, complicated by machine breakdown and long distance communication, but we've got there - almost.  (To see more details and to pre-order, click here).

I have to say that working with Clarence and Carol Bass has been an absolute highpoint in our bodybuilding lives.  I don't know that I've ever met such an inspirational - well, I usually hesitate to use the word 'guru', but I guess that's what he is.  You'll really need to see the video, but everything he says is so interesting and so to the point that you can't help getting carried along by his philosophies.  

Just one small thing - for those Australians (and possibly English) that want to use the "Old Reliable" breakfast recipe - I have found out that Kamut isn't available in Australia, and the supply of amaranth is extremely dodgy.  So Wayne and I have done a bit of experimentation, and we have made up a grain mix of hulled oats (that appears to be what we call oat groats over here), spelt and millet.  It isn't the same as Clarence's mix of course - it couldn't be.  But it tastes pretty good, and supplies you with the same amount of fibre and a good mix of amino acids, whilst remaining  gluten free.

I have just posted an interview with Arthur Jones by John Turner of Canada.  It sure makes interesting reading.  I've put it under Training Articles because I really didn't have anywhere else to put it.  Big thanks to John for allowing us to post it.

Finally, I have just listed our bestsellers for November.  I can't believe that V-103, 1980 Mr. Olympia is still selling like it is after all these years.  And the Masters Olympias for 2001 and 2002 are still going well.

2002 NABBA Universe - The Men - Prejudging

NABBA Universe - 2002!  GMV- 494: The Men's Prejudging has been completed.  103 minutes of the greatest Amateur Muscle event on earth!!  And with a record number of competitors.  The new Masters Over 50 Class was a definite hit.  You won't see the posing of the top 6 in each class on this tape, but you will see everyone else's.  Only the top 6 pose at the Show, and that is being edited right now.

2002 NABBA Universe - Women's Cover

I've just posted GMV-493 2002 NABBA Universe: The Women's Prejudging & Show, complete with cover.  I had the words before, but now the cover has been finished.  Check out the images on the back - the top one in particular.  It's a shot of the Figure Class Tall - Patricia Mello is in the centre (it's a back shot), and she looks for all the world like she's topless!  She isn't, but she wears a daring new style of bikini - how it stays in place is a miracle of modern science!!

A New Training Article

As you know we have been working closely with Clarence Bass of late, and we are pleased to say that he has given us permission to reprint one of his articles on this site.  It's called The Metabolism Myth, and questions our assumption that it's all part of nature's plan that we gain weight as we get older.  

I know you don't really like me to change the pix on our covers.  BUT!  I just found some wonderful pix of Mark Henry lifting the replica Apollon Wheel at the last Arnold Classic, and felt that this time the change was justified.  Click here to see if I'm right!!

Wayne's Hard News - 2002 EFBB British Championships

The EFBB British Championships was the first event we covered on our trip this northern autumn, and Wayne's Hard News is just a tad late.   It was a very good contest this year as you will read by clicking here.

2002 NABBA Universe - first video!

Our first NABBA Universe video is ready - I haven't quite finished the cover yet, but it's GMV-493: The Women's Prejudging & Show.  It's traditional - we always do the women's video first, partly because we used to have a staff member here called Janelle, and it was more than Sean's life was worth to do a men's tape first!!  The tradition carries on, and I still get a phone call from Janelle at NABBA Universe time asking when the women's tape will be ready.  So, Janelle, it's ready now!

Olympia Expo Draw Result

At the 2002 Olympia Expo Weekend we had a booth - it was really great catching up with so many customers and old friends.  

We held a draw on the final day for $200 worth of videos from GMV Productions, and the lucky winner was Mr. James Davis of Jackson, Mississippi.  James has been notified of his win, and I'm waiting to hear what videos he wants.  I'm sorry the rest of you lucked out - but there's always next year!  Thanks to all for taking part.

EFBB British Championships Results

I have just posted the results from the EFBB British Championships, which although they are the last results to go up, they were in actual fact the first contest we taped on "The Trip".  Sorry about the delay!  Click here for details.

Believe it or believe it not, but the contest season STILL hasn't finished.  Wayne is going to Germany in December for the WFF Worlds to be held on 14th December.  Luckily, he will be home in time for Christmas!!  Then the season will be finished, and we have a glorious 2 months of flat-out editing before it starts all over again with the Ironman Pro Invitational in mid-February.

We have now released our second video on the Mr. Olympia Pump Room.  And as one of our good friends pointed out these are the first videos available of the Olympia event anywhere in the world!!   GMV-501 - click here for details.

Hard News Report on the 2002 Universe!!

Wayne is working from home today - lucky b*****!!  At least the cat is happy about it.

Backstage at the 2002 Mr. O Prejudging with Shawn Ray!!

This is an absolute coup for us.  Shawn Ray agreed to go backstage at the Mr. O Prejudging with Wayne, and interview all the guys as they were pumping up.  The result is a unique video of this event!  GMV-500 - click here for details.  Understandably, we got onto the editing straight away, and for the first time ever, we've released it BEFORE the Olympia video itself.  

The next project is the 2002 NABBA Universe, and editing has started already.  As a separate project we are also editing the new "Ripped - The Video", featuring Clarence Bass.

2002 Ironman Pro Invitational - and a stupendous win by Günter 
in New Orleans

V-179 2002 Ironman Pro Invitational is now ready - and not without its own peculiar set of birthing problems.  As you know, we didn't shoot this ourselves, but it has edited up into a sensational tape - you will like it.

And talking about sensational, what did you all think to Günter Schlierkamp's win at the GNC show of Strength Men's Bodybuilding contest held in New Orleans over the weekend?  Not only did Günter win - he beat Ronnie!!!  Apparently the hall erupted when Günter was announced as winner, and Ronnie behaved like the gentleman he is, and congratulated Günter on his very fine win.  For a complete list of the winners click here for details.  Please don't ask us for the video.  Regretfully we weren't there, and don't know If the contest was taped or not.  We do have a feature video on Günter however - click here for details.

I also have the results of the Women's Bodybuilding and the Pro Fitness.  I was particularly pleased to see that Yaxeni Oriquen won the overall women's contest.  At the Olympia I thought she was a tad behind her superlative condition of the Arnold Classic.

Universe Results & the month's best sellers

I've just been trawling through the vast quantities of paper I brought back with me from our trip, and realised I hadn't posted the Universe results yet.  Well, that's been rectified, and you can see them by clicking on this link.   The Universe was a superlative contest this year - not only the biggest number of contestants ever (145 in total), but such fantastic quality!  Editing starts on this marathon next week.

Also see above for the best sellers for the month of October.  No great surprises there!!  I'll never forget the standing ovation that Günter Schlierkamp got from the crowd at this years' Olympia.  What a triumph for him!  

2002 Ironman video and the State INBA titles

Truly great news today!  After a long and frustrating delay we are just hours away from finishing the 2002 Ironman edit.  As many of you know, we didn't shoot this event ourselves, and it's thanks to John Balik of Ironman that we finally were able to get the footage and edit it ourselves.  So watch this space for final details.  I only need a few photos and the cover will be done.

Talking of covers, I've just finished the cover for the 2002 Masters Olympia, and they will be sent out to all of you who bought the video in advance.  

Finally, and the last thing for today - I have just put up GMV-490 the 2002 INBA South Australian Natural Physique & Figure Titles.  It's a lovely video, featuring the best natural physiques in South Australia - and in Australia as well, since our Overall winner, also took out the National Overall title last weekend.  

New Ernie Taylor video & 2002 IFBB English Grand Prix Results

The UK Grand Prix results have been updated to now reflect the top 15 rather than just the top 6.  There are also some luscious new links in our Female Links section.   

2002 IFBB English Grand Prix Results

We have just posted the results for the 2002 English Grand Prix.  Click on the link for details.  Wayne taped the contest just yesterday, and phoned me immediately with these results.  It was a huge competition with a total of 22 contestants.  The standard was high - a great result for Dexter Jackson, winning his very first Grand Prix.  Apparently 4 people pulled out for various reasons and they were Ronnie Coleman, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler and Marcus Ruhl.  Here is a complete list of those people who did compete:

Increase in Postage

We're very sorry, but due to the increase in the cost of shipping worldwide, we regrettably must increase our postage rate per video from $2 to $3. 

We have always subsidized the cost of shipping in the past and will continue to the 
extent we are reasonably able to do so, but prices have gone up so dramatically that we're forced to pass on some of the cost.

This will take effect on Monday the 14th / Sunday the 13th (depending on your time zone).

2 new important videos!!

We have finished a couple of really important videos in the lead up to our trip.  The first is the final video from the Arnold Weekend - it's GMV-469: 2002 Arnold Classic - Men at the Expo plus The Arnold Strongman Challenge.  

And the other is a real treat!!  It's GMV-487 Juliette Bergmann Ms. Olympia - Meets the Challenge.  Part of it was shot at the Mandalay Bay Hotel just hours after she won the overall title last year.  It's a wonderful tribute to a wonderful bodybuilder.

And there should be a third one up later today - it's the first time we have ever featured a local contest on the website.  We held the NABBA State championships here last weekend, and although the field was relatively small, it was exceptionally good.

This coming Sunday we start our trek to the northern hemisphere for the contest season.  

First stop is Las Vegas to touch base with our friends, and to visit Clarence Bass in Albuquerque.  Then we go to England for the Universe and the EFBB British Championships.  Then the biggie!  We go back to Las Vegas for the Olympia Weekend, and naturally enough we are very excited about it.  We'll have a booth at the Expo again, and I'm really looking forward to saying 'hello' to anyone and everyone who comes to see us.  We've got more videos on display than ever before, and visiting bodybuilders coming to have a chat.  So PLEASE DO come and say hello.

After the Olympia, I come home, but Wayne goes back to Europe for the English Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix.

More of the oldies!!

This has to be a major achievement,  We now have in excess of 750 videos on this site.   Not being one to blow my own trumpet (much!!), I believe I can honestly say that GMV has the most important bodybuilding video resource in the world  Who else has the depth of video product we have?  And who else has so much video material for the serious bodybuilding historian?  Tell me who it is, and I will bow to their superiority.  In the meantime I claim the crown  for ourselves.

All the videos I put up today were mixed contests for the mid to late eighties and into the early 90's.

A Brand New Feature

Australia is blessed with a number of new Pros, and we have just released a feature on one of the newest, GMV-488.  His name is Luke Wood - he's only 23 and has the most amazing genetics.  He'll go far, you mark my words.  To see him, click here for details.

The best-sellers for the month of August are listed above.  Completely different to last month - odd, isn't it!  Men of Muscle # 5 is excellent, so I'm pleased to see that in the list for the first time.

20 new "old" videos!!

Yep - 20 videos of contests from the mid-80s.  They all feature both men and women and hence come under the "mixed" category.  We really do have the most amazing resource of archival footage.  OK, so many of the physiques aren't world class, but it's still interesting to see how styles in bodybuilding have changed and evolved over the years.  I have to confess that the descriptions of these videos leaves a lot to be desired, but my main aim at the moment is to get them on the site.  We can always add more descriptions and some pictures down the track.

The last and final release from the 2001 Olympia!!

Two "What's New" on the same day!!  That you should be so lucky.  It's just that Wayne finished editing the final video from the 2001 Olympia series last night, and he wouldn't rest until I'd done the cover, and published it on the site.  He's a slave driver!!

It's getting exciting!!

Thanks to Ron Avidan of www.getbig.com, we have the compete list of competitors for the Olympia Weekend - all three contests - the Mr. O, the Fitness O, and the Ms. O.  Click here for Wayne's Hard News and all the details.  It's going to be an enormous Mr. O with a proposed 25 contestants!  

Don't forget to come and say hello to us at our stand in the Expo.  We are bringing more videos than we had last year, and it will be a bigger, better, brighter display.  We will be featuring athletes on the stand such as Tomm Voss and Susi Niederhauser.

Wayne & Sean will be using 2 cameras, and trawling the Expo for all the action, and we'll be back stage doing pump room videos throughout the contests.  And, oh boy this is a big AND, we have lined up 8 athletes to tape features on Olympia Sunday.  No, I'm not going to tell you who they are - it's to be a surprise.  But there is a great mix of physique types and both men and women.  

As you can imagine we are all very excited about this - it's going to be hard work, but we're really looking forward to the challenge, and of course, you can look forward to a year of magnificent new releases from GMV Productions.

During this trip we are also taping at the 2002 Universe in Newcastle, England, the EFBB British Championships, the Grand Prix in England and Holland, and the WFF World Championships in Austria.  And we'll be half dead when we get back!  Only joking!  Getting the footage is only part of the work - it then has to all be edited, video covers made, brochures printed, etc., etc., etc.

A Whole New Dimension!!

In the late 60s and early 70s Wayne wrote a whole heap of magazine articles, and it occurred to us that the information he gave - diet, weight training etc., - is just as relevant today as it was then.   The first of these articles is in our new "Training Articles" Section.   Click here for details. This particular article was written in 1967 when Wayne was training for the Mr. South Australia title.

Mixed Men's & Women's Contest and a new Review from Brett DeHaan!!

True to my promise, I'm slogging away at putting up contests from our mixed section of contests.  "Mixed" merely means that we have put men and women together in the same tape.  At any rate we have reached a milestone - we now have 700 videos on this site.  Just looking through the lists makes me realise that we have a unique collection of videos, a historical record in fact, of bodybuilding from the 70s onward.

I know very well that the description of many of these old videos leaves a lot to be desired.  I will expand them when time permits.  I thought it was probably more important to just get them up at this stage - if you want any more details on any of them please don't hesitate to ask.

Men's Features, Women's Features and Classic Collection Archives!!

What a feast!  I've just finished putting up another 8 videos in our popular Classic Collection series  (including Aussie Muscle of the 70's Vol. 2 featuring one Wayne R. Gallasch!!); plus 2 more Women's Features; a whole heap of Men's Features and Seminars.  

And, just to prove a point to myself, we have just over 200 Mixed Contests (both men & women competitors) and only about a dozen on the site so far.  I going to have to be very mentally strong to tackle that lot!  But I will start to do it on Monday - I think!!

Women's Contest Archives!!

Today I've been concentrating more on the Women's Contest videos, and I've put up more than a dozen.  These are classic competitions mostly form the late 80's and early 90's.  I really went for a wander down memory lane!  Go to Women's Contests to see the complete list.

The next list to tackle is the Mixed Contests, and there are a huge amount - I might just chicken out of that one, and have a look at the Men's and Women's Features first.  We'll see how we go.  (Chicken out?  Aussie slang for cowardly backing away!!!).

July Bestsellers & New Pump Room Categories!!

While I've been doing this massive update on the site, I noticed that the Pump Room videos are getting hidden amongst the large Contest Category.  So I've split them all out into their own categories (Male and Female), so hopefully you will find them much easier.   

And I have finally updated our bestseller list for July.  I can always tell when a chat group has been talking about our videos - the sales just lift like magic!  Hence Arnie is at the top of the list with Total Rebuild.

Backlist & Fitness Warehouse on Line!!

Our sister company, The Fitness Warehouse, is now on line.  This is especially  significant for our Australian and New Zealand readers, but it's interesting for everyone to look at.  They are updating their inventory every day this week - it's really great.  So if you are after anything in the fitness line, from supplements to treadmills, or boxing to bikes, click here!!.   One of our local heroes has his own supplement company (Nick Jones, Mr. World).  Wayne and I both take his protein powder as a shake for breakfast every day.  It's the best tasting stuff in the world, in my opinion (and I've tasted a few in my time).  You can get Nick's full range of products (Gen-Tec)  from the Fitness Warehouse.  They are more than happy to send supplements all over the world if you are interested.

I am stuck at home for the next few days, supervising bathroom renovations.  (Not glamorous, but necessary).  So, the best thing for me to do is get some of that back list up onto the site.  There will be additions every day, but today I shall start with the men's competition.  We only have a small laptop at home, but it's perfectly fast enough for this sort of work. 

I've added approximately 35 men's contests to the site today.  Regretfully, none of the videos have colour covers at present, but we'll work on that as time goes by.  It's not practical to give a list of links here (there are too many of them), but if you browse through the Men's Contest list, you'll soon find them.

Hard News - August

Wayne's report on the 2002 WFF Universe has been posted in the Hard News section - plus he talks about the background to the 1980 Mr. Olympia, and our brand new Men of Muscle # 5 video.

Very good news for our Australian customers:  We have negotiated a deal with Mitsuru Okabe for the  exclusive distribution of Ronnie Coleman's Unbelievable video in Australia and New Zealand.  Mitsuru has supplied us with a submaster and we no longer have to import the videos themselves.  This means huge savings, and we can now afford to reduce the price to a much more affordable A$49.00 (still US$39.95 for overseas customers).  This price reduction takes effect immediately.

I'm sorry to be so late with our list of bestsellers for the month of July.  My computer problems weren't the only ones we had a couple of weeks ago, and we have a huge amount of data to input before I can print out the best sellers report.  Soon, I promise.

Men of Muscle # 5 Now Released

Men of Muscle # 5 is a very special event!  For the first time ever we are able to show you the unseen 2001 Mr. Olympia.  The missing footage in fact.  For various technical reasons the Mr. Olympia show video is stuck at 90 minutes in length.  That means when there are a huge number of competitors as we saw in 2001, many routines are cut, posedowns are cut, victory speeches are cut, opening speeches are cut - I'm sure you get the picture.  In this video you will see simply everything there wasn't room for in the Mr. Olympia video.  And not one minute is duplicated!!  Good value?  Sure is.  Click here for GMV-486 Men of Muscle # 5 details.

I've been working like steam to get the Worlds covers finished, but I've had endless crashes, and my printer gave up the ghost yesterday so what with one thing and another there have been a few delays.  BUT ... we have some good new links to explore - Big Ron Coleman for one, Jay Cutler, Gregg Valentino, and a very good new general site from the UK which looks very promising.  It's called UK-muscle.com, and is run by ace photographer, Giles Thomas.  

Kamal Elgargni Pix

2002  NABBA Worlds

All three tapes from  this great contest have now been finished - but I'm still waiting for the pix to do the covers (it's not Giles Thomas's fault - we can blame the postal system).  So for the first time in forever, I've put the videos up without covers, so you can get them straight away if you wish.  Then when the covers have been done, I'll send them out to you separately.   Here are the details:  GMV-479  NABBA Worlds: Women's Prejudging & Show:  GMV-477 NABBA Worlds: Men's Prejudging: and GMV-478 NABBA Worlds: Men's Show.  Don't forget that the pix and full descriptions will go up later.  I've just done this to make it easier for you to order.  I've seen some photos of Elgargni who looked absolutely outstanding, and was a well-deserving winner.  Tell you what, tomorrow I'll scan a couple and put them up - your jaws will drop!!  Forget the 6 pack - he's got 8!!

The Oscar Heidenstam Hall of Fame Videos

NABBA was founded by the late Oscar Heidenstam.  When he died a Foundation was established, and a Hall of Fame dinner is held each March.  A video is made of the event and now we can offer them all to you.

NABBA World Results

Many Apologies!!

I do apologise most sincerely for the recent problems with the site.  The first time it wasn't my fault, but the second time it was my fault.  I deleted a file I shouldn't have and caused the most almighty mess.  It's all been fixed now thanks to my very good friends at M-Plex and WebCentral.

See above for the best sellers for the month of June.  I know FIBO is popular, but I never expected it to rocket to the top in such a short time!  It was also very gratifying to see the Master's Olympia in second place.

FIBO 2002: Flexing at FIBO - The Women!

Well, it didn't quite happen yesterday, but it's happened.  For V-178 Flexing at FIBO 2002 - The Women, click here for details.  This video is totally worth buying for just two women - Susi Niederhauser (Ms. Olympia qualifier) and Reggiani Da Silva, the new Brazilian Fitness Pro.  They are absolutely awesome!  Add in such stars as Monica Brant, Klaudia Kinska, Lizzy Taylor, and more, and you have a GREAT video.

Back in Business & The Stan McCrary Video!!

I do apologise for the system breakdown over the weekend.  What happened was that part of our database was massively corrupted and that stopped everything from working.  We don't know how it happened, but major thanks to WebCentral for getting it all back together again for us.

2002 Fitness International

GMV-466 2002 Fitness International Prejudging has now been released, and it also includes some scenes of the Women at the Arnold Fitness Weekend Expo.  I'm so sorry we couldn't get the show for you, but our rights only included the Prejudging.  

Best sellers for May are listed above.  Not too many surprises there!  The 2002 San Francisco Grand Prix still tops the polls - although Gunter Schlierkamp has popped up from nowhere.  That's perhaps because it's been FIBO time, and he is immensely popular in Germany.

2001 Masters Olympia!

See Vince Taylor win his 5th Masters Olympia!  But only just - Don Youngblood gave him a real run for his money - closer than Cutler and Big Ron!  You should see it.  Click here for details.  We didn't shoot this video - our good friends at WPW were there for the Jan Tana, and gave us the footage.  We edit it, and market it, because it would be a real shame if these legends of bodybuilding weren't recorded for posterity.

Hard News - FIBO 2002 & Results

See Wayne's report on FIBO 2002 in his Hard News.  It sounds like it was really exciting  - maybe I should tag along next year, it seems I'm missing out on something here!! 

The 2002 NABBA Australian Championships were held at the weekend - they are now known as the Southern Hemisphere Championships.  Click here to see the results.  For the first time in forever, we didn't tape this contest.  I'll see if I can get details as to how you can order the video.  Send me an email (tina@gmv.com.au) if you are interested.

2001 MR. OLYMPIA - THE MEN AT THE EXPO

The long-awaited Men at the Expo (and Behind the Scenes) video from last year's Olympia.  See GMV-462 for details. 

I don't whether you've caught up on the latest gossip re this year's Mr. Olympia - but Paco Bautista qualified at the Night of Champions last weekend.  (Click here for the full list of results).  

There's also a deal of fuss being made because Shawn Ray's very generous offer to raise prize money for the contestants at the Olympia who do not place in the top 10.  This offer has been refused, and it appears that poor Wayne DeMilia is being blamed for this.  Wayne takes a lot of the flak quite unnecessarily.  There are people above Wayne who have the final say - so lay off Wayne - he does his best in a very difficult job.  You'll see some more details on Ron Avidan's site at www.getbig.com. 

2001 EFBB British Championships!!

GMV-473: EFBB BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS: WOMEN - PREJUDGING & SHOW has just been completed, and so has GMV-475 2001 EFBB BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS: THE MEN - THE SHOW.  

We still have the Men's Prejudging to go, which is being edited even as I type this notice.  What amazes me is that the year is galloping on at a great old rate.  

There are still plenty of videos in the pipe line - the Expo videos from the 2001 Olympia – separate Men’s & Women’s, plus the Men at the Expo from the Arnold Fitness Weekend, 2001 Masters Olympia, 2002 FIBO videos, the Juliette Bergmann video - all sorts of things.  And it won't be long before we set off for the Northern Hemisphere again for the Worlds etc.  

We have already booked some stunning models for the Olympia weekend in October- so it looks like being our busiest year yet.

Classic California Muscle # 2

V-176 Classic California Muscle # 2 now has a cover made for it and is available on line.  I've also posted the results for the 2002 Southwest Pro Cup, which was held on 4th May.  The results are interesting - 2 new names for the Ms. Olympia - keep your eye on Susie Niederhauser.  We've known her for some time through the German FIBO event which we tape each year.  She's a lightweight with a lovely physique, very symmetrical; added to which she's pretty and a lovely girl personality-wise.  The other new name is Betty Vianna - a heavyweight.  

There are also some new names for the Mr. Olympia lineup - Bob Cicherillo and George Farah, with Darrem Charles qualifying in 1st place.  It's great, isn't it!!

2 New Videos & Bestseller for April!!

When we sent out a Index recently, there was an immediate reaction to a couple of new videos we had listed.  Why aren't they up on the website was the constant complaint.  Well, the first one of them is - it's V-175 Classic California Muscle # 1.  

I have just done a cover for it - it contains footage of Robbie Robinson, Rory Leidelmeyer, Dick Baldwin and many more.  It was all shot by Joe Valdez in the mid-70s, and has only just been transferred to video.  It's first class and the bodybuilders are in their all-time best shape.  Absolutely essential viewing for nostalgia buffs.  Classic California Muscle # 2 is also available, and I will be working on the cover later today.

We don't want to get heavy, but be very aware that the film footage of the above 2 videos is © copyright to Joe Valdez, and if we find that even a second of it has been posted onto the web we will have to take action.

The second video we have completed is GMV-472 2002 IFBB Pro Australian Grand Prix - Pump Room.  We got some great footage of the Pump Room and general behind-the-scenes action.

The April bestsellers are listed above - as expected, the 2002 San Francisco Grand Prix has romped to the top, with Women's Muscle Power # 11 close behind.

2002 IFBB Pro Australian Grand Prix!

Yes, here it is - the last Pro event of the early season - the 2002 IFBB Pro Australian Grand Prix!  Check it out by clicking here.

Chris Cormier looks fantastic - but the biggest roar in the house was for Kevin Levrone.  It was his first appearance "down under" for quite some time.  The fireworks are something else as well!

All the Results - at last!!

I'm sorry!  I'm sorry!  I know I'm as slow as a wet weekend (we could do with one of those here in very dry South Australia) but I have just put up the results from all the recent IFBB Pro shows.  You simply have to admire all the Pro guys.  It's a MARATHON!!.  Starting with the Ironman on 16th February, and ending in Australia on 16th March, there wasn't a single weekend without a show - stretching from USA (coast to coast) to Austria to Australia.  I don't know how they do it.

Hard News from the Arnold Classic

4 New videos from the Arnold Classic

Here we have 4 wonderful videos from the Arnold Classic Fitness Weekend.  It was a nightmare getting there, and the shoot wasn't easy, but we are sure you will be delighted with the results.  

The videos are:  GMV-464 The 2002 Arnold Classic Prejudging; GMV-467 The 2002 Arnold Classic Pump Room Plus Posing; GMV-465 Ms. International Prejudging; and GMV-468 Ms International Pump Room Plus Posing.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Due to contractual arrangements between the TV company at the event and the organisers, it was not possible for us to purchase front of stage videotaping rights for the evening shows of both the men's and women's events.  However, we were permitted to shoot from on-stage at both evening finals and got a pretty good closeup image of all the action right through to the Awards with Arnold.

The Ms. International final was shot from side stage, and the Arnold Classic shot from rear-side stage.

This posing is the contest posing which follows both pump room sections of the tapes GMV-467 and GMV-468.

The really good news is that our 3 separate prejudging videos of the Arnold Classic,. Ms. International and Fitness International were all shot from front of stage from our excellent camera position.

The long awaited new released form Shawn Ray is here - A-4321 Shawn Ray Inside and Out.  We also have the latest (and the last in the series) of Powerlifter Video Magazine.  It is # 34 A-4319.  The producer, New Low, has decided after 10 years of producing this incredibly popular series, that it's time to go onto something new.  Can't wait to see what it is!!

San Francisco GP Report in Hard News!

The Lion of Libya hits the streets!

Back from the IFBB Melbourne Grand Prix.  A line-up of 9 pros, and a fantastic contest.  Chris Cormier won (again), but keep an eye out for Aussie Luke Wood - he beat both Quincy Taylor and Stan McCrary, and is definitely one to look out for over the next couple of years.  He's only 25, but has a great future.  We will start editing as soon as we've finished the San Francisco Grand Prix.  That video will be an absolute winner - you'll see LEE PRIEST win his first ever Grand Prix, and boy - he is in FANTASTIC shape.

Our feature workout/posing video on Kamal Elgargni is now ready (GMV-458).  And in response to many, many requests you will see long lingering bicep closeups in the best Gallasch style.  We have photos of Kamal in the Gallery - click here to check him out.

We only got back from USA Thursday, and already we have to head out again - we leave for Melbourne tomorrow to tape the 2002 IFBB Australian Grand Prix.  The line-up is fantastic - so we're looking forward to a great show.   We get back Monday.

I'm writing to you from the road - having attended the Arnold Classic last weekend.  Currently, Wayne and I are gearing up for the San Francisco Grand Prix this  weekend.

But I couldn't wait until I got back to tell you about these incredible videos.

GMV-442 is our first ever Fitness Olympia prejudging tape - and features every second of prejudging, including the stretching and pumping that goes on behind stage for the long evening routines.

Screen Savers - For Free

On the menu bar at the top of the page you will see a new item called "Freebies".  We have a couple of things on offer - an email newsletter which you can subscribe to or unsubscribe to at will - and two very nice screen savers.  One screen saver is for male bodybuilding fans, and the other is for women.  We plan to change the images every once in a while so you won't get bored.  Have fun!

One thing we have abandoned is the forum - it was under utilized, and it seemed best to get rid of it and offer the screen savers instead.  The Forum function will be removed from the site by Friday.

2001 IFBB ENGLISH GRAND PRIX!!

GMV-445 the 2001 IFBB English Grand Prix, GMV-446 the Grand Prix Pump Room, and GMV-447 the EFBB Amateur Grand Prix videos are now ready.  It was a fantastic event, as always.  Plenty of very high class competitors, and this year quite different to the Olympia.  Don't forget it's always held just one week after the Mr. O, so all the top guys are in great shape.

Yes, that's right - 2 entries on the one day.  I have so much to tell you!!  Check out the Women's Gallery - I've just published some AWESOME pix of Christine Envall, Lesa Lewis and Lisa Bavington, who all feature in our latest GMV-438 Women's Muscle Power # 11.  And I haven't forgotten the 4th lady in the feature.  Pix of Valentina Chepiga will be there probably later today.
