Mike Jenkins – RIP (1982-2013) & Terry Phillips - RIP (1940-2013). Mike Jenkins – RIP (1982-2013). 2012 Arnold Sports Festival Strongman Classic winner Mike Jenkins passed away 28th November at the age of 31. Mike Jenkins of Hershey, PA had his biggest victory when he won the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic contest over an international field. He set 3 new world records and beat all the biggest names in the sport, including many times Arnold winners Zydrunas Savickas, Derek Poundstone, and Brian Shaw. Jenkins, who was 6'6" and around 400 lbs., also won the 2012 Giants Live in Australia and the 2010 Arnold Strongman amateur event. The 5 events at the 2012 Arnold Strongman included: Shouldering Apollon’s Wheels, Circus Dumbbell, The Austrian Oak, The Deadlift and the Timber Carry. Our sincere condolences to the Jenkins family. Terry Phillips - NABBA Universe Winner - RIP (1940-2013). Former NABBA body-building champion and popular Liverpool nightclub owner Terry Phillips has died this week at the age of 73. It is said that he accumulated more body building titles than any other Briton. He won the Mr England in 1960 when he was 20, and claimed the Mr Universe title four times and also won Mr Britain in 1979 and Mr World in 1986. He was also a former NABBA UK chairman.   His last Universe victory was in 1983 when he won Class 3. Our sincere condolences to the Phillips family. See the 1983 NABBA UNIVERSE DVD, V-052DVD.

Greg Kovacs – RIP (1968-2013) Greg Kovacs – RIP (1968-2013). Canadian Pro bodybuilder Greg Kovacs died on November 25, from heart failure at the age of 44. Some time ago he was the most publicized bodybuilder in the world and was dubbed "The Strongest Bodybuilder Alive". Being known as “The biggest bodybuilder in the world” carried a lot of expectation and pressure, along with a lot of publicity. Greg made his Pro debut at the 1997 Night of Champions and then competed in the 1998 Iron Man Pro. We were greatly impressed when we met Greg at FIBO in 1998. He was absolutely massive and we included his photo on the back cover of that DVD. Our sincere condolences to the Kovacs family. RIP Greg.

In the Women’s division, this was the first contest appearance of TERRI ROBERTS. Terri later went on to win the Australia, Australasia, win at the Worlds and was 2001 Figure Class 2 NABBA Miss Universe. EDDIE TURNER was the Men’s Open winner. At the end Kamal was virtually destroyed - "out on his feet" after giving his all. This DVD was shot during an actual pre-contest workout with all his regular heavy poundages. Dan Lurie was a great businessman and promoter of bodybuilding events and was possibly best known for his bodybuilding feats of strength. We are sad to report that he died on November 6th at the age of 90. Lurie founded the Dan Lurie Barbell Company and he continued to lift weights into his 80s. He also published “Muscle Training Illustrated" magazine for many years. I had the honour of providing him with a number of front cover shots in the 70s and 80s with stars such as Clint Beyerle and many more from that period. Lurie trained champion bodybuilders such as Lou Ferrigno and held many famous contests through his World Body Building Guild (WBBG) shows. Our condolences to the Lurie family.

Winners Phil & Lee - Arnold Classic Europe & NABBA Universe Full Results!! Lee Priest victory and the full NABBA Universe Results. Lee became only the second Australian to win the Overall Mr Universe title. The previous winner was Grant Clemesha who won the Overall Amateur Mr Universe title in 1995. Contest victories to Phil Heath & Lee Priest!! Phil Heath does it again in Spain. Results just in from the Arnold Europe last weekend, and it is a repeat from the Olympia. The top guys finished in this order - Heath, Greene, Wolf, Rhoden, Martinez and Winklaar. Arnold presented Phil with his magnificent trophy. Congratulations to Phil Heath - he is really on a roll right now. Phil has not yet won an Arnold Classic in Columbus - so maybe it will be next!
