Bertil Fox

Bertil was definitely an excellent bodybuilder - he was one of the thickest bodybuilders in history and his chest was amazing. He was also ridiculously strong with a one rep max for bench press somwhere close to 600 pounds.




It's easy to judge by the picture above that Bertil was big and thick and looked to be incredibly strong. Few pro bodybuilders today can match his thickness. Many are bigger, and some show up in better condition, but for thickness alone Bertil was way ahead of his time and left his mark on bodybuilding.

BERTIL'S LIFE SENTENCE

Bertil is currently in jail in the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts, where he is attempting to appeal his life imprisonment sentence. Originally Bertil was sentenced to the death penalty for the double murder of his ex girlfriend Leyoca Browne and Browne's mother. He would have been hung, but has since appealed the case and won his appeal. He is serving a life sentence and in the process of appealing it.

The case of BERTIL FOX, the former British champ sentenced to death in 1998 on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts, has taken yet more judicial twists and turns. After getting his death sentence quashed by Britain's Privy Council, Fox was to be resentenced by the St. Kitts High Court on Monday, July 22. According to LISA EDDY, reporter for the St. Kitts-Nevis Observer, Fox's resentencing was adjourned until September 10, because new evidence was expected to be presented.

"Fox's attorney, HENRY BROWNE, will introduce three new witnesses," says Eddy. "And there is also a new psychiatric report to be admitted."

Despite the recent dismissal of the death penalty sentence, Fox could still be sentenced to death by the High Court in September.

The Mr. Olympia competitor received two death sentences in 1998 after being found guilty of the September 30, 1997, handgun slayings of his former fiancee, LEYOCA BROWNE, 20, and her mother, VIOLET BROWNE, 36 (no relations to Henry Browne).
