2001 Ms. International and Ms. Fitness International

Vickie Gates (winning a total of $17,000) was a three-time winner taking the overall title from lightweight Division winner Dayana Cadeau (winning $7,000) of Canada.  I have seen Dayana several times since 1998 when she had the size but not the condition.  This time she looked sensational with size plus incredible condition and legs that were shredded.  I thought that the ripped legs, other things being equal, may get her the overall title.  But Vickie’s upper body, overall condition, muscle maturity and experience prevailed.

I would like to see 22 competitors in the Ms. Olympia this year as the depth and quality in this competition was outstanding.

THE 2001 FITNESS INTERNATIONAL

Again 22 excellent competitors and I guess Kelly Ryan started favourite after her second placing at the Fitness Olympia. But it was not to be as a superbly conditioned Jennifer Worth took the title and $20,000 with a very tight and nicely muscular body, and amazing fitness routine. Jenny told me the title meant more to her than the money. So Kelly was second again with Adelina Friedmansky 3rd.
