1984 IFBB WOMEN’S AMATEUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS on Download.
Brisbane, Australia, played host to the second IFBB World Amateur Women’s Championships, staged by Paul and Carole Graham. With two weight classes to separate a total of 27 top competitors from 17 countries, the event enjoyed a quality of athlete of the highest caliber.

In a very tough lightweight class, Holland’s Ellen Van Maris was a comfortable gold medal winner over hometown favorite Erika Geisen of Australia. Ellen Van Maris would later move into the pro ranks enjoying a successful career that included a runner-up finish to Cory Everson at the 1987 Ms. Olympia.

The middleweight class produced an equally impressive winner in American Clare Furr.  Furr became the first American to win a gold medal at the IFBB World Amateur Championships. She also finished second to Cory Everson,  at the 1986 Ms. Olympia.

1999 NPC Nationals: Men's Finals now on Download.
Undoubtedly the most prestigious and highly anticipated NPC contest of the year, the 1999 National Bodybuilding championships drew over 250 top athletes to Orlando, Florida.

In the Finals the top 5 competitors from each weight class performed their posing routines, along with posedowns, and received their awards.  Witness the beginning of some amazing pro careers and future IFBB Pro champions in the making. Here are a few names - Aaron Maddron, Mat Duvall, Idrise WardEl, King Kamali, Bob Cicherillo, Rodney St Cloud, Craig Richardson, Troy Alves, Johnnie Jackson, Mark Dugdale and Derik Farnsworth.

Peter LaReau RIP.
Peter LaReau was a bodybuilding champ who held titles like Mr. USA, Mr. America and Mr. Universe in the 1990s. Peter inherited a heart condition and doctors diagnosed him with cardiomyopathy in his 30s, then giving him only seven years to live. Doctors deemed natural causes the reason for 54-year-old Peter's death, presumably related to his pre-existing heart condition. He passed away on March 12th in Seneca, USA.

I had the pleasure of shooting video of Peter on 3 occasions. I always remember him as the blond good looking American with the classic look.
In the 1993 Gold Star Classic in Newcastle he won the Amateur Division. 
In the 1993 NABBA Universe Tall Class 1, he was 2nd behind Aussie Kevin O'Grady.
In the 1994 NABBA World Championships, Men's Class 1, he was 4th behind 1st placed Grant Clemesha of Australia.

Peter had the Classic Physique, tiny waist - which now has its own class of competition at the Olympia. He is greatly missed. Maybe this is an idea that could be looked at for a new class at the NABBA Universe.

Remembering Peter Fasching and his influence on my career from 1970 at the IFBB Mr. Europe.
In 1970 I traveled to Essen, Germany to meet local businessman promoter and publisher Peter Fasching. In the previous few years, Peter had published several photos I had sent him in 1968 and 1969.

I was specifically there to attend and film his 1970 IFBB Mr Europe contest which was held at the Saalbau in Essen, on Sunday September 27th. The promoter was Peter Fasching assisted by Benno Dahmen. This was my first ever visit to Europe, and it was 8 days after I had filmed the NABBA Universe in London on 19th September, 1970. In particular, I had made it to London to see and film Arnold in his last ever NABBA Universe appearance.

I regarded Peter as a great friend and was greatly saddened when he died on February 27th, 1983 at the age of 40 years. Over the years I have worked with 51 different German bodybuilders in photo, film and video shoots. I will be mentioning all of them in my 50 Years of filming bodybuilding documentary, presently being prepared.

KIM JUN HO – Korean Superstar of Bodybuilding on Download.
