1986 NABBA MR. UNIVERSE The 38th NABBA Men’s Universe was the HOTTEST show of the year! By any standard there has never been a physique contest as impressive in size and raw muscle display. This prestigious annual event, held in London, is probably our best ever contest video to date. Bodybuilding stars gathered from around the world to battle it out for top honours, both professionals and amateurs. GMV brings you all the action as we present the complete posing routines of all the top Professionals and the top 6 Amateurs in their three classes. Plus, each poser is identified by sub title on screen as he comes on stage. THE PROFESSIONALS LANCE DREHER was the professional winner, in his all time best condition, ripped to shreds, with extraordinary separation. This makes him a double winner having won the Amateur IFBB Universe in 1981. It was an emotional moment when Lance defeated sensational newcomer, PIERRO VENTURATO. To add to the already emotional events, Lance announced his retirement after the show. The bodybuilding world will miss this popular champion, but won’t forget him. PIERRO VENTURATO of Italy, a WABBA Mr. World titleholder, was superbly conditioned. He displayed pure posing artistry and the finest abs in the show. He is a true physique star in every way. A major surprise was THIERRY PASTEL of France, the 1985 and 1986 WABBA Pro World Champion. He posed his flawless physique with style, no double attributed to being a protégé of the great Serge Nurbret. Thierry showed balance, cuts and for his height of 5’6”, the biggest arms in the contest. Arms over 20” (50cm) look good on anyone, but on him they looked fantastic. THE AMATEURS Overall amateur winner was incredible CHARLES CLAIRMONTE of U.K. His shoulders and arms exceed those of Haney as he weighted in at around 250lbs, at 6’2”, with 21” arms. His overall physique can’t even be described! (Don’t miss our one-hour feature on Clairmonte, GMV-46, recently released). CLASS 1 (Tall): What a titanic struggle between U.S.A and Britain! When the smoke had cleared, a shredded Mr. America MIKE ANTORINO and CLAIRMONTE were deadlocked each with four first placing’s. In the final pose down, Clairmonte was declared the winner by a single point. His excellent shape and symmetry and those incredible 21” arms helped get him through. CLASS 2 (Medium): Massive Brit, EUGENE LAVISCOUNT, had a clean sweep of firsts. Sensational newcomers included STEVEN STRUNK (U.S.A), PETER BOSCH (Holland), Norbert HUELLEN (Germany) and Patrice LINGUET of France with his near see-through trunks!! He made sure that he was noticed!
CLASS 3 (Short): Sensational newcomer, SAMMY IOANNIDIS – Mr. Australia, stood out like chiselled bronze. With his fantastic ripped condition and the most remarkable leg development in the whole show, he descended on his opposition like a Greek god from Mt. Olympus. When he posed the audience went wild. He destroyed his opposition in LARRY BERNSTEIN and VICTOR TERRA from U.S.A. Crowd favourite RAMSFORD SMITH of England was almost cited for a ‘moving violation’ when he turned on his wild ‘breakin’ posing routine. John Brown move over!!
