GMV-424  2001 NABBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Baden Austria was the place to be in June 2001 for the NABBA World championships. Women from all over Europe and the world came to compete at the 2001 NABBA World Championships. Many low profile competitors attended the event, which saw no big brand name physiques competing at the show. There was a very strong presence from Russia, Latvia and many other former Eastern Block countries. All the contestants put forth a great effort showing off their physiques in Baden. The landscape for future NABBA events in Europe should prove to be even more competitive. Key features in this video include the key comparisons, symmetry rounds and individual posing routines.

Gabi Heidecker from Germany proved to be the women's physique champion. Her entire physique is simply impressive, she has attained a high degree of muscularity along with symmetry. Gabi will definitely be a female bodybuilder to look out for in the next few years. Joanna Rogers from Australia placed third in the physique category. She was very playful and beautiful on stage for her posing routine. A female bodybuilding contestant that caught my eye was Micheala Lubken from Germany. Micheala only looks to be 20 years old, yet possesses a strong looking physique. Although she was not lean and cut for the competition, she should mature with experience.

The Miss Figure class had a very large base of competitors with varying degrees of maturity. The vast majority of the figure women were very talented and beautiful. I really felt sorry for Natalja Zamjatina, she was just too out of place for the event. Natalja looks to be perhaps 20 years of age. Her baby blue eyes and stunning looks can carry her forward if she builds a stronger more muscular looking fitness physique. My favourite figure contestant was Svetlana Pugacheva. Svetlana executed an excellent posing routine and was extremely energetic on stage.

Pros about the video

  • Long running time allows viewer to easily determine placings!

  • A strong showing of former Eastern block talent

  • Clear and crisp sound quality (music etc.)

  • A wide array of undiscovered physique talent

Cons about the video

  • Shot from a distance relative to stage

  • Significant variability in talent among physiques within figure classes

  • Natalja Zamjatina seemed very out of place in the competition

  • No big name physiques at the event (can be a plus or minus)

Final Thoughts
According to GMV this "video packs some superb bodies in all categories". In my opinion this statement does hold true. I must admit not all competitors are at top-level calibre compared to other contestants. There is a definite degree of variability in maturity between competing physiques at this show. Hopefully next year Wayne will be closer to the front stage in order to gain a better perspective of the NABBA event.
