Mr. Olympia competitor Hide Yamagishi arrested at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)!! We are sorry to report that IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after arriving from Tokyo, Japan on December 8, 2007. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Hide recently spent five weeks in his home country of Japan after being the first ever Japanese competitor to compete in the Olympia. He is currently being held at the North County Correctional Facility in Saugus, California on $180,000 bond. He will have a court date on January 8, 2008 at Los Angeles Municipal Court. I feel sure that he will now not compete at the 2008 Iron Man Pro Invitational or the 2008 Arnold Classic. Hide did a video shoot in the gym and poolside for our camera team on the day after the recent Mr. Olympia. This will be released by us some time in 2008. 2000 NABBA World Championships: Men - The Show now on DVD!! Held in New Zealand, the world’s best male bodybuilders competed for the first World Championship titles of the new Millennium. We have just received the news that Reg Park passed away on Thursday morning, 22nd November!! We are sad to report the death of the legendary bodybuilder, Reg Park, in South Africa on Thursday morning. He had been  suffering from melanoma. It was my privilege to have filmed Reg a number of times over the years. The first time I filmed him was in London when he competed in the 1970 NABBA Universe (V-108DVD), followed by the 1973 NABBA Professional Universe (V-100DVD), to the 50th Year of the NABBA Universe Reunion (GMV-294) up to his Lifetime Achievement award from Arnold at The Arnold Classic in 2001, (GMV-412DVD). In 1989 we had the pleasure of interviewing Reg at the NABBA Universe where he gave us his views on the top physiques competing that day (GMV-099DVD). Our heartfelt sympathy is with Marion, and his children Jon Jon and Jeunesse. Schwarzenegger grieves after famed bodybuilder, ex-trainer dies. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday said he was deeply saddened by the death of his former trainer and mentor, legendary bodybuilder Reg Park. "He was like a second father to me," Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "He is the reason I was motivated to become Mr. Universe myself and come to America and make movies."   South African media reported that Park died Thursday morning, November 22nd in Johannesburg. The Mail and Guardian in Johannesburg reported that he died from advanced skin cancer. He was 79. "Other than my parents, there may be no single person who had more to do with me becoming the person I am today than Reg," Schwarzenegger said of the three-time Mr. Universe winner. Park, originally from Yorkshire, England, was a key influence early on in Schwarzenegger's bodybuilding career, when he trained with the future governor in South Africa. "It was Reg who impressed upon me how hard I would have to work if I wanted to achieve my dreams," Schwarzenegger said. "I'll always remember him making me do calf raises with 1,000 pounds at 5 o'clock in the morning."     Schwarzenegger went on to compete against Park in a Mr Universe bodybuilding contest in 1970, and beat his mentor in a closely fought contest, according to the Reg Park Legacy Foundation's Web site. Park's striking figure—he was six foot and in his younger days weighed up to 250 pounds—caught the eye of film producers and he starred in five Italian "sword-and-scandal" movies in the '60s, according to the Web site.   Park is survived by his son Jon Jon, daughter Jeunesse and wife Marion. 2007 South Australian INBA Natural Physique & Figure Titles now available!! 2001 NABBA Universe: Men – The Show now on DVD!! This classic year of the Universe contest saw a record 91 men competing in 7 different classes. The JUNIORS were doubled in number, the Masters Class - sensational as ever, 4 Men’s Open classes and the Professional Division. Eddy Ellwood created history in this event with his record 5th Pro Universe title in a row. An interesting aside. In Class 3, SALVATORI ORAZIO placed 2nd. Last Saturday at the 2007 NABBA Universe he not only won the Overall Amateur Mr Universe title, he then went on to win the Pro-Am title as well. Winning both major titles from the Amateur division was a first! Steffen Müller of Germany was a worthy winner of the 2001 Amateur overall Mr Universe crown. Wayne photographs world champ RICKY HATTON in training in Manchester!! Manchester's Ricky Hatton is a household name in UK. He is undefeated in 43 fights and is gearing up for the biggest fight of his career. On the 8th December at the Las Vegas MGM Grand he will be taking on the formidable world pound-for-pound leader in Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their welterweight clash. Mayweather is the undefeated world champion at 5 different weight classes. This fight will see Ricky "Hitman" Hatton boxing at 147 pounds. What makes this so special is that I have been at all of Rick's training sessions this week at the Kerry Kayes owned Betta Bodies fitness complex in Manchester. The gym area also houses the Billy Graham Phoenix Camp where the boxing training takes place. The weight training and nutrition is supervised by GMV's sponsor Kerry Kayes who is the owner of CNP Professional. It is Kerry's job to ensure Ricky makes weight and is in the strongest shape and best condition of his life. Later I will write a Hard News about Ricky's training. OBE for IFBB Muscle Legend Rick Wayne!! Muscle Legend Rick Wayne who was inducted into the bodybuilding Hall of Fame (2005) now has a new title, OBE. Last Thursday the STAR newspaper publisher from St. Lucia in the West Indies was officially awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in London. Hugh Ross - Access Granted now available!! He is a celebrity in his home country of Guyana. As one of the military's highest trained captains Hugh’s specialties were paratrooping, jungle warfare, amphibious operations, close quarter combat, and skills at arms. He holds a third degree black belt in Shotokan and second degree in Tae-kwan-do martial arts. It is hard to believe that Hugh Ross’s first bodybuilding competition was in 2002 at the Fitness Atlantic. Stepping on stage for the first time Hugh entered the Men’s Novice division he also won the Men’s Master title in the over 40 class. Hugh returned to the Atlantic stage in 2003 and entered the Men’s Open division as a Light-Heavyweight and won. In 2004 he came in shredded to win the Light-Heavy and Atlantic Overall Title and then in 2005 took home the first Atlantic Professional overall trophy. The Women's Figure categories in particular were awesome, and every single contestant was a winner in her own right!! As if to celebrate the Olympia at the weekend, our copies of the German language version of “MARKUS RUHL - BIG and LOVING IT” DVD finally arrived today from Germany via Express Courier! This afternoon we will be busy shipping out copies to all the very patient customers who have paid for this DVD some time ago. Due to the on-going delay in finishing the English Language version of the DVD, all orders that are paid by the end of this month will be receiving 2 separate COPIES of the DVD as follows. The German language version of the DVD we are shipping today. Then when the English language version does arrive, who knows when, you will all receive a copy of this version of the DVDs as well, at no extra cost to you. 1987 FIBO now on DVD!! Former Mr. America Dick DuBois Dead at 74!! (1957) Dick DuBois passed away in a Santa Monica hospital last Wednesday. He was 74. As well as his bodybuilding achievements, Dick had a career as a stage actor, in movies and as part of Mae West's troupe. He was a contemporary of Mickey Hargitay and a other great bodybuilders who worked with Mae at that time. Sadly we have no footage of Dick that we know of in our archives. 1995 English Grand Prix now on DVD!! Many fans in the 90s made an annual pilgrimage to Nottingham for the English re-run of the Mr. Olympia, one week after the event in U.S.A. This year the fans were treated to a magnificent display of physique artistry, style and size from the one and only VINCE TAYLOR.  Vince "The Prince" stormed to victory over KEVIN LEVRONE adding yet another pro title to his huge collection of titles. This was to be Vince's last victory at the English Grand Prix before winning 5 Masters Olympia titles. 1982 NABBA Universe DVD now released!! Here is a classic Universe contest now available on DVD. It was the first ever NABBA Universe shot on video and as such is a rare gem. It covers the whole event with all the main highlights from prejudging and show, and includes the single women’s class. The big stars of this event were Ed Kawak, Kal Szkalak, John Brown, John Terilli, Terry Phillips and Jocelyn Pigeonneau. John Terilli's victory was the first ever Universe victory by an Australian. John later won the NABBA Pro Universe in 1994. Kawak won the Universe 5 times. This feat was equalled by Eddy Ellwood who won his 5 titles in consecutive years. Santa Susanna Pro Show results now posted!! We have now posted the results for men and women from the weekend's Santa Susanna Pro shows in Spain. This was the last chance to qualify for the Olympia, although most used it as a warm-up event. It is good to see that Paco Bautista (pictured left) will be back at the Mr O this year, and commisserations to Armin Scholz who just missed out. Death of Arthur Jones, inventor of Nautilus machines!! We are sad to report the death of Arthur Jones, born in 1926, and passed away on August 28, 2007 at 4:40AM. He was the founder of Nautilus, Inc. and MedX, Inc. and the inventor of the Nautilus exercise machines, including the Nautilus pullover machine, which was first sold in 1970. In 1978 I was the guest of Arthur Jones for several days when I visited him in Florida to shoot my video with his protégé, CASEY VIATOR. Famous individuals who trained under the rules of Jones include Casey Viator, Mike Mentzer, Sergio Oliva & Dorian Yates. My thanks to Ell Darden for this information regarding Art's death. Ell helped me set up my visit with Art Jones back in the mid 70s.

1985 WESTERN STATES BODY BUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS, USA now on DVD!! Famous Muscle Beach was the location for this well known annual event. Ageless Al Beckles in Musclemag and on DVD!! In the latest issue of Musclemag I received this week, September issue, page 289, there is a piece discussing the age of ageless ALBERT BECKLES. To illustrate the story they used my old Iron Man cover photo of Albert from the IM issue of September 1974. My photos of Albert were taken in Hyde Park Square, London in 1973 after he won his class at the IFBB Mr Universe. Albert visited Adelaide in the 80s and I recorded his seminar and posing. He is certainly one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time and was runner up Mr Olympia in 1985.

2007 Ironage Reunion and Chuck Sipes Award to Roland Kickinger DVD!! LEGENDS OF BODYBUILDING GATHER AT THE 2007 ARNOLD WEEKEND. The first ever Ironage dinner was held in Columbus, Ohio on March 1st, 2007. Held in conjunction with the Arnold Sports Festival the reunion and dinner was to honour the first annual Chuck Sipes award to ROLAND KICKINGER for his work with disadvantaged children. Many of the men who were present were the champions who inspired us to pick up the weights in the first place. Some of the bodybuilding stars who attended included: SERGIO OLIVA STEVE MICHALIK BILL GRANT LEON BROWN JOE MEEKO Special guests ROLAND KICKINGER and Mrs MARY SIPES. The second half of this 2 hour DVD is classic unseen footage from the GMV Productions archives. This rare film and video footage fits in perfectly with the theme of the Ironage event. 1990 Iron Man Pro Invitational - first ever event now on DVD!! The 1990 Iron Man Pro was an historic event being the first ever Iron Man Pro competition. SHAWN RAY has the distinction of being the inaugural Iron Man Pro Invitational winner. Of special note was the appearance of Gary Strydom making his last IFBB appearance before going on to be the 1991 and 1992 WBF champion. 1996 Iron Man Pro Invitational now on DVD!! The 1996 Iron Man Pro Invitational was a rumble between the four top competitors - Flex Wheeler, Paul Dillett, Shawn Ray and Lee Priest. This is no disrespect to Darrem Charles and Patrick Lynn who filled 5th and 6th places respectively. Lee Priest went on to be a future winner of this event in 2006. Click here for details.
