The complete list of competitors at the 2007 Arnold Weekend!! The complete list of competitors for the 2007 Arnold Classic Weekend for all classes was released recently. A total of 65 athletes in men’s and women’s Bodybuilding, fitness and figure will do battle in Columbus, Ohio on March 2-4 for the 19th edition of the ASC. 2006 Mr. Olympia DVD update!! I know that many of you have been patiently waiting weeks for your order for Mr. Olympia DVD to arrive. It was released a few days ago in USA and is finally on its way to Australia by Air Courier. It should be in the office next Thursday if it clears Customs in one day. Late Thursday and all day Friday we expect to be shipping your orders, if all goes smoothly and to plan. Tracy will email you when all orders have been shipped confirming this fact. For those of you in Australia and New Zealand, there is every chance you will get your DVD by Xmas eve post which is Friday 22nd December. This is only our prediction as we cannot guarantee the mail. For all customers outside Australia there is little or no chance you will receive your DVD till early January at best. We are sorry about this delay which was beyond our control. Now the other good news! One of our suppliers has watched an advanced contest disc and this is what he said today: "To be honest, it is the best Mr O DVD film I've ever seen. There are 3 hours of footage in total, and I've viewed more than half of that...so let's hope that it's all as good as the 2 hours I've seen so far. Some Olympia DVDs I've seen in previous years have missed out certain footage, or had blurry camera shots, bad sound quality, etc. But this one seems to have been very well filmed, edited and put together..its also close to on time as per their stated release date!" 1982 Mr Olympia -"THE BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS!" now on DVD!! This historic and hardcore version of the '82 Olympia was shot by Wayne Gallasch on sound film and transferred to DVD. It was also our first ever GMV coded video. See the greatest physiques in the world from the early 80s with all the drama, blood, sweat and tension of Chris Dickerson's epic victory in the 1982 Mr Olympia contest in London. Although all 16 men are shown, this DVD concentrates on the top eight champions as they do battle through each of the three rounds of judging and on to the final presentation. Adelaide (Australia) guys do well on the world stage!! We have just had word that local boy NICK JONES has won the overall title at the Musclemania Worlds a week ago in LA. This is quite an achievement as Nick has been battling health problems for some time. Our congratulations go to him on such a fantastic effort. Over the years we have produced 3 great DVDs on Nick. The second local guy to do well was JOEL RAMINTAS who won the Natural Mr. Olympia title a week ago from an international field of 200 competitors. A big week for Arnold in CA! With Arnold's re-election as Governor of California for a further 4 years, it reminded me of the first time I ever saw Arnold. That was at the prejudging of the 1970 NABBA Pro Mr Universe in London. That historic footage is part of our V-108DVD. Death of Mickey Hargitay last week!! I am sorry to report the death last Thursday of my dear friend and 1955 Mr Universe winner Mickey Hargitay. He was 80. We have Mickey in 2 of our videos as follows. The 50th Anniversary of the NABBA Universe, GMV-294 and my Legends Reunion of 2000 at World Gym, GMV-444. Several years ago I recorded interviews on video with Mickey telling me his life story in bodybuilding. Bodybuilding pioneer Pudgy Stockton passes away!! Laura Stockton, Pudgy's daughter, asked us as part of the muscle media to inform everyone that Pudgy Stockton passed away on Monday, June 26th. She had been ill for more than a year with Alzheimer's and approximately a week prior to her death had a stroke which precipitated her passing. She died at home in her apartment in Santa Monica where she had been cared for by her daughter, Laura, for more than a year. Laura tells me that Pudgy will be cremated and the plan is to spread her ashes off the shore of Muscle Beach at some later time. She was born in 1917. Pudgy was probably the first woman in USA to "popularise" the lifting of serious weights in a bodybuilder sense, rather than just toning up. You might say she was the fore-runner of women's bodybuilding although Pudgy was more a strength athlete with a magnificent well built body. She was also a hand-balancer and all round superb athlete. Pudgy and her late husband Les were good friends of Glenn Sundby who came to my Legends Reunion in 2000 at World Gym. Governor Schwarzenegger appoints Franco Columbu to the state's Board of Chiropractic Examiners!! Franco Columbu, a weightlifting partner of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger during his days as a champion bodybuilder, was named Friday to the state's Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Columbu, 64, is a two-time Mr. Olympia and a former Mr. Universe who used to train with Schwarzenegger in the 1970s.
